The Gabe Elder is a fictional character from the Texhnolyze anime series. He is the spiritual leader of Gabe. The elder is Ran's grandfather and mentor.

Appearance

He's an older man, probably about 50 years old. The elder has long grey hair and visible wrinkles on his face. He is not a too slim person and his height is quite average. He wears something like a thick scarf around his neck. He is always dressed in a green apparel which symbolizes his high position in the village of Gabe.

Personality

The Gabe Elder is a serious person with a conservative attitude to the traditions of the Gabe village. He believes that no one should fight the human destiny that appears in Ran's mind. No matter how tragic the future of people is going to be, the Gabe Elder does not intend to do anything to stop it (in this regard, he is a complete opposite of Ichise).

The elder is usually very stoic and serious, but he also seems to be quite a nice person who can show his gratitude even to strangers. It is shown when Kazuho Yoshii saves his life from the assassins. The Gabe Elder welcomes him with cultural hospitality, and even tells Ran to led Yoshii to the Lux city in the gratitude for saving them. It seems that his attitude to Yoshii was largely based on his principles. In spite of all, the Gabe Elder wasn't quite sure about the intentions of the mysterious newcomer. It is shown in their conversation, in which he ask Yoshi directly whether his appearance will have positive or negative effects. This also says that the elder is also a very wise person.

Biography

The Gabe Elder is first shown when Ran brings Kazuho Yoshii to the village. At some point the old man is attacked by two mysterious assassins (later it turns out that they were members of the Salvation Alliance). The mysterious traveller, Yoshii, saves an old man's life. The Gabe Elder tells him about Ran's ability to see the future. He also proceeds to explain about the history of the village, Gabe. He describes its origins as a community where people tried to live independently, away from the rest of the city. However, most people from Gabe have since returned to the city. Later, Keigo Oonishi is informed of the recent assassination attempt and orders the elder not to retaliate without his permission.

Abilities

In fact, the series does not show much of the Gabe Elder's unique skills. However, it is known that he is a man of great knowledge and wisdom associated with the the Gabe people's culture . By the way, that is a reason why he is the spiritual leader of this village.
