SYNAPSE is the fourth episode of the Texhnolyze anime series.

Synopsis[]
Doc’s models are now the fourth generation of Texhnolyze. Their functions and reactions are now as close as possible to human limbs. Unlike common practice, Doc made improvements more on function than on aesthetics.
There are four phases to Texhnolyze: molecular engineering, mechanical engineering, neurobiology, and the “black magic phase”. To use the texhnolyze, nano-carbon media sends impulses to the pineal gland. This is interpreted by the brain and motor neurons. Visual perception of the unit is sent by the Texhnolyze monitor to the occipital lobe. Ichise therefore has to live with seeing status bars in his line of sight.
The “black magic phase” involves the potential rejection of Texhnolyze by the recipient body. To avoid this, a substance called Raffia is collected from the deep parts of Lux. When Raffia is included into Texhnolyze, the mechanical part is not rejected.
Keigo Oonishi goes to the Salvation Alliance headquarters. He is with only 4 bodyguards and no other Organo. He arrives there in the middle of a general rally, and asks Genji Kimata for a quiet place to talk. When Kimata states that he is one with all the other members, Oonishi retorts that he is one with the cowards who shoot at Organo for no reason.
Kazuho Yoshii wanders around Lux. He sees the effects of street fight and explains that Lux used to be ruled by Gabe, until Organo took over. Now Lux is an isolated island, ruled by force, and filled with people weakened by decreased self-recovery capability. He opens a little book. It has a picture of a younger Oonishi.
Two thugs see him and steal the backpack. Yoshii runs after them. When he stops to catch his breath, he sees Ran again, but Ran turns into an alley. The thugs forcefully ask where he got his guns. Then, Yoshii suddenly attacks them both with unnatural strength. His sleeve is pulled out, to reveal a mechanized arm. Shinji arrives at this point and makes the thugs stop. Yoshii recognizes Shinji as the head of Racan. Shinji eventually brings him to their headquarters for a place to stay.
After knocking out the doctor, Ichise drags himself out of Doc’s lab and into the street. He walks past Ran and she looks at him.
